Comings and Goings

Sienna Investment Managers

Sienna Investment Managers (Sienna IM) has appointed Philippe Renauld as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Renauld has been Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the company since late 2020 and will take on the CFO role in addition to his current duties. He is a member of the Management Committee and reports to Paul de Leusse, CEO of Sienna IM.

Sienna IM has offices in Paris, Luxembourg, and London. It is the asset management platform of the publicly traded investment holding company GBL. It has €30 billion in assets under management (AUM) with nearly 300 employees.

His previous roles include Group CFO of Belgian retailer Groupe Louis Delhaize and International Commerce Director at manufacturer Saint-Gobain PAM Canalisation.

M&G

Richard Godfrey will join M&G Investment as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Asset Management, subject to regulatory approval, on 31 July 2023.

Reporting to Joseph Pinto, Godfrey will join M&G’s Asset Management Executive Committee and will be responsible for all investment management operational functions, and collaborate with Investments and Distribution teams across the Asset Management business.

He joins M&G from HSBC where his most recent role has been Global Co-Head of the Securities Services and Securities Financing businesses. He’s held a series of leadership roles at HSBC since starting with the bank in 2004, including Global COO of Securities Services, with responsibility for its business operations and transformation initiatives. He previously held roles at Mello as CEO of its investment servicing business in Europe and Robert Fleming in senior asset management and insurance operations roles.

ESR Group

Real asset manager ESR Group has made a series of senior appointments.

Matthew Lawson has been named as Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective this week. Lawson is currently the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at ESR Australia. 

In this newly created role, Lawson’s job will be to support the Group Co-CEOs and work with the ESR business unit leadership in the delivery of growth and performance across the Group. He will also oversee Information Technology, Insurance and Business Resilience and other Group functions.

The company has also appointed Josh Daitch as Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO). Daitch will oversee Fund Management, Capital Raising, Research and Analytics and New Product Creation. Prior to this new appointment, Daitch was ESR Group Head of Capital & New Economy Fund Management. 

ESR is the third largest listed real estate investment manager globally with approximately US$150 billion in total assets under management (AUM). It operates in markets including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, India, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.

Old Mill Wealth Management

Adil Taha has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at regional UK firm Old Mill Wealth Management.

Taha will work with CEO Kevin Whitmarsh and the rest of the senior team to drive operational efficiency and streamline processes.

Old Mill originated in Shepton Mallet in Somerset, England, in the 1920’s, but the current company was formed following a buyout in 2006 and has more than doubled in size since then.

It has four offices across the West Country - in Exeter, Wells, Chippenham, and Yeovil - and over 350 staff.

Oaktree Capital

Jay Wintrob will step down as Oaktree Capital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the first quarter of 2024.

The company has promoted Robert O’Leary, Portfolio Manager for the Global Opportunities Strategy, and Armen Panossian, Head of Performing Credit, to Co-CEOs.

In their shared role, O’Leary and Panossian will focus on overseeing the organisation and performance of Oaktree’s investment teams, while continuing to lead two of Oaktree’s investment areas.

Also, as part of this transition, Todd Molz, Oaktree’s General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, will be made Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing the day-to-day management of the firm, with all non-investment functions reporting to him. All three will join Co-Chairmen Howard Marks and Bruce Karsh, and Vice Chairman John Frank on Oaktree’s executive committee.

Wintrob has been with the company since 2014 and prior to that was the President and CEO of AIIG Life and Retirement. Other roles include Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at SAFG Retirement Services, Inc. and President at SunAmerica Investments Inc.

Molz has been at Oaktree since 2006 in a variety of roles.

Harbourfront Wealth Management

Canadian wealth advisory and investment management firm, Harbourfront Wealth Management Inc., has appointed of Geoff Pilgrim as Director of Operations and Transitions.

Working from the offices in Burlington, Ontario, Pilgrim will lead the operations and transitions teams, supporting nearly 300 staff across the country and the ongoing new advisory teams joining the firm.

“Geoff brings a strong skillset, multi-disciplinary leadership experience, and successful track record that will further bolster Harbourfront’s growth trajectory,” says Leonard Trigg, Chief Technology Officer of Harbourfront.

Prior to joining Harbourfront, Pilgrim was Vice President, Supervision & Advisor Experience at Wellington-Altus Private Wealth, where he was a senior member of the advisor transitions and compliance teams. Previously, Pilgrim was the National Operations and Risk Manager at RBC Wealth Management Financial Services Inc.

The company has 30 offices across Canada.
